I absolutely loved this wander through the author's life, reflections, and her own evolving garden, as well as the wonderful little gems scattered throughout the book of her visits to other people's gardens. As a non-gardener, I initially picked it up to give it a quick skim and found myself completely absorbed in the narrative flow as I followed the author's tale of how her relationship to her garden and to herself has changed over the years. Again, as a non-gardener I thought the sections on the ins and outs of xeric gardening would be lost on me entirely, but found myself fascinated, largely - I think - due to the fact that the information was embedded in a story-telling approach. This is a truly wonderful little book, and one I plan to pass on to friends.Product details

Judy Richter's Garden Stories is both poetic and informative. She describes her multigenerational garden memories; the often neglected wonders of the winter garden; secrets of Xeric gardening in dry climates; and the miracle of plant growth. The illustrations by Sandy Baird are delightful. Judy's book has reminded me that my garden is a place of comfort and renewal.
Interesting, informative, fun to read; loved it
I thought that Garden Stories would be a quick, light journey into the world of gardening. With that in mind, I bought several copies for myself and some gardening friends and family. Although you may read it quickly , you'll keep coming back to it. It continues to pop up like a friendly visitor. You'll revisit many of the gardening tips to help create a sustainable garden and then you'll find yourself responding to the journal prompts at the end of each chapter. Judy Richter's personal anecdotes will make you ponder your own relationship with your garden,the beauty of nature and the everchanging seasons of our own lives.
